We've figured out how you can discover London in 48 hours and where you can get the best benefits with your ISIC. Check out our suggestions of activities here.
Day 1
Morning:
Start with a ride on the London Eye, the largest Ferris wheel in the world. The view of London is formidable, and it's pretty much your only chance to look out over Westminster from above.
Afternoon:
A tip: English breakfast is so high in calories that you can safely turn it into a lunch. Many pubs know this and offer 'All Day English Breakfast'. You must have tasted it once...
Afternoon:
Completely free and extremely interesting: the legendary and huge British Museum, with the largest amount of antiquities north of Cairo.
It's not cheap, but London still remains one of the best shopping cities in Europe. Don't linger on Oxford Street, but also look for less obvious and much hipper shopping locations. Tips: Notting Hill, Seven Oaks or Camden.
Evening:
Thanks to the significant presence of the Indian and Pakistani communities in England, London is home to the best curries west of Delhi. Pakistani restaurants can be found all over London, but the real ones are in ethnic neighbourhoods like Brick Lane.
Night:
Clubbing time! Cargo, Egg London, Electric Brixton, Koko, these are just a few of the trendy clubs in London. The latest dance trends are born here, months before they cross the channel.
Day 2
Morning:
Take a ride on the Docklands Light Railway, a driverless metro that winds its way through the Isle of Dogs on an elevated railway. Here you see 21st century London, with the occasional glimpse of the 02 Arena.
Afternoon:
Head to the fun trinket market in Greenwich, where you can also visit the Prime Meridian and the Cutty Sark. A lovely place for a quiet lunch outside the bustle of the city.
Head to the Tower of London, if only for the ravens and the extraordinarily witty way the Tower Guards tell you about Henry VIII's wives in juicy detail.
Book a two-hour guided walking tour of Whitechapel's bleak Victorian alleyways, with a blue badge guide who knows all about the Jack The Ripper murders. Seeing the real places where history's most infamous murders happened is an unforgettable experience.
Evening:
Don't dine for too long, because whoever is in London should see a show. The West End is the place to be for a musical, a stage classic or the latest in British theatre.
Evening:
Hey, we haven't been to the pub yet! Enjoy a nice lukewarm 'pint of bitter' after the show.
