A European Festival Award for Sziget Festival
Last Wednesday, Sziget Festival was honoured at the prestigious
European Festival Awards. The Hungarian festival performed in the 'Take a Stand' category for its social commitment, activism and fostering positive change.
The jury rewarded Sziget for its reflections on climate change, migration, mental health, and innovation. Reflections that are put into practice during their festival. Added to this are the values of tolerance, acceptance, and inclusiveness that the festival has been promoting for some years now.
According to Tamás Kádár, CEO of Sziget Festival, the values of acceptance, tolerance and individual freedom are «
the DNA of Sziget». He adds: «
For 30 years, these have been the fundamental principles of our festival.»
This year's Sziget Festival takes place from 7 to 12 August in Budapest, Hungary. We already know the first names of the artists taking part in the festival: Martin Garrix, Sam Smith and Stormzy.
