Belfast is so beautiful that you forget the rain

Emile Van Opbroeck is an Architecture Master's student at KU Leuven.

"With a population of 280,000, Belfast isn't really a big city, but it's charming all the more. The local university has beautiful buildings and a well-oiled administration, and guidance from which they can learn in Belgium. I felt right at home and quickly had a few friends. A lot of scenes from Game of Thrones have been shot in the beautiful nature of Northern Ireland, so the road trips along the coast and inland were an absolute highlight. Surfing along rugged cliffs in the icy water was also an unforgettable experience. All these things almost make us forget that it rains a lot there, but then we just crawled in with a fresh Guinness. Slainté!
