Day 1
Morning:
Ah, Rotterdam, the city with countless architectural highlights. It all starts with the beautiful Rotterdam Central station. From this point you can walk along the water towards the centre. You immediately pass works of art from the international sculpture route of Rotterdam. There are 17 in total, including works by Rodin, Shapiro and Mastroianni.
Afternoon:
Take the water taxi to Hotel Amerika. Here you are on the other side of the water and that guarantees a photo-worthy panorama, including the Erasmus Bridge. Thousands of people used to leave for North America at this hotel, hoping for a better life. Hotel Amerika is now a fantastic nostalgic place where guests can stay, eat and drink.
Time for some culture. Rotterdam has a museum park that brings together five museums: the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, the Natural History Museum, the Kunsthal, the Chabot Museum and the Netherlands Architecture Institute. Now you can choose which one to visit.
Look for a high in Rotterdam, but not in the coffee shop, slobs. The Euromast is the highest watchtower in the Netherlands and offers you an amazing view over Rotterdam at 185 meters. Some budget left? You can also sleep and eat here.
Evening:
On the pleasant water near the Oude Haven you will find cozy restaurants where you will want to spend your entire evening. In the evening the harbour comes alive so it is best to book a table in advance.
Night:
Take another step? Go underground at the techno club Toffler, which is located in an old subway tunnel. Or stay very far above ground and go to a rooftop bar like The Suicide Club, nice and fancy!
Day 2
Morning:
You can browse for hours on the market on Binnenrotteplein. With over 400 stalls, this is the largest market in the Netherlands. You walk past stands with jewellery, food, clothing and music. You might also score a new piece of furniture there, because you will also find antiques.
Afternoon:
The Diergaarde Blijdorp is the most visited attraction in Rotterdam. In this 150-year-old zoo, you take a mini world trip from the African savannah to the Asian rainforests and the Himalayas.
After a tasty croquette from the wall, it's time to do some shopping. The Koopgoot is a unique semi-underground shopping street with many well-known and less well-known chains. For each their own.
In the spectacular Market Hall you can taste, look, drink, live and above all admire the building. In the arch there are 228 apartments and about 100 sales stands. A pleasant chaos of stimuli! Be sure to walk a little further under the cube houses.
Evening:
Take a stroll through the Witte de Withstraat. This atmospheric street is known for its many artistic cafes, unique shops and art galleries. Lovers of good food will certainly enjoy themselves in the countless restaurants. Bagels, burgers, Indonesian... for everyone's wallet! This will fill your stomach for the return journey.
